CAMP HILL, PA – Momentum, Inc. was a proud sponsor of the first annual Dress For Success (DFS) South Central PA Power Walk on Saturday. The Power Walk consisted of a 5K walk at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and also included a scrub drive.

The Power Walk is a world wide fundraiser which promotes the Health & Wellness initiative of the Professional Women’s Group while raising funds and visibility for Dress for Success. DFS empowers women to make healthy choices in work and in life and the Power Walk plays a crucial role in ensuring that women understand the need for a well balanced lifestyle. The South Central PA chapter of DFS took it a step further by adding a scrub drive to help outfit disadvantaged women entering the medical field.

Momentum sponsored the Healthy Foods tent and the raffles raising over $900 with the sponsorship, registrations, and donations. The healthy foods included food and ingredients donated by local stores, including Subway who donated four 6′ long subs. The raffles included gym memberships and spa packages also donated by local businesses.

Momentum employees walking the 5K also kicked off their annual 8 week Step-by-Step wellness program which has participating employees wearing pedometers and keeping track of their steps with the goal of 10,000 steps per day. Momentum’s “Sharing our Success” volunteer campaign was combined with their wellness program in 2011 naming it the “Hand-in-Hand, Heart-to-Heart” program. Other initiatives this year included an Unwrapped program where employees tracked their fruit and vegetable consumption with the company donating to the Pennsylvania Food Bank based on the final numbers.

Dress For Success plans to continue the Power Walk next year with even more participating chapters throughout the world.
