What is Security Assessment?

Information Technology (IT) Security Assessment has come to the forefront as one of the most important consulting disciplines in the 21st century. In a Security Assessment, a client grants the assessor access to its facilities, provides network access, and outlines detailed information about the network and general company IT security procedures. The goal of security assessment is to identify improvements that can be made to the organization’s IT framework to make it more secure.

Momentum's Methodology

Momentum’s consultants coordinate regular meetings with your organization to plan and coordinate the use of Security Assessment tools to scan your systems for technical security vulnerability, plan and carry out tests for non-technical security vulnerabilities, analyze the results, and provide mitigation strategies for identified vulnerabilities.

Our professional capabilities help you identify both security successes and exposed security vulnerabilities. These activities may include:

  • Coordinating and analyzing internal and external scans of the application
  • Analyzing system source code for programming weaknesses that could be exploited by a hacker
  • Performing application-specific tests in the test environment to test for vulnerabilities
  • Creating non-technical ‘social engineering’ to test vulnerabilities
  • Conducting an attempt to gain unauthorized access into the office / performing a walk-through of the office to look for
    potential security issues
  • Reviewing internet sites that contain system information made available to the general public
  • Reviewing current security-related policies and procedures to compare to generally-accepted best practices
  • Building the framework of a comprehensive security policy within an assessment document that outlines findings of
    the security review
  • Creating simple training manuals and communications for reference purposes

Simply put, we use security assessment to make your company more secure by proactively seeking out potential problems and solving them.
