Momentum, Inc. was engaged to provide Business Analysis (BA) training and skill development mentoring to the PennDOT ITPO. Team members were formally trained and mentored on a range of BA techniques. Momentum facilitators worked with PennDOT personnel on a real-world business application scheduled for replacement due to lack of available legacy technology support.
The PennDOT ITPO provides program management support for PennDOT IT initiatives. The ITPO desired to develop business analysis skills that were aligned with industry best practices, consistent with the International Institute of Business Analysis™ Body of Knowledge (BABOK™), and the Commonwealth’s Enterprise Project Management Methodology (EPMM), based on the Project Management Institute® Body of Knowledge (PMBOK®).
Momentum Services:
- Provided training on Business Analysis Fundamentals, Requirements Gathering and Documentation, and Process & Workflow Modeling
- Developed analysis and documentation templates for use by ITPO BAs
- Provided hands-on guidance and mentoring for documenting four "As-Is" business processes with related baseline metrics, business requirements and functional requirements
The "As-Is" process models, documentation and metrics, as well as the business and functional requirements, can now be effectively utilized by PennDOT to accurately develop and manage system requirements through the application replacement process.
