Social Media Advertisement Campaigns

Social Media Advertisement Campaigns

For business owners, the way you promote your business has drastically changed over the years, primarily because of technological development and changes. There are many ways you can attract business online, from pay-per-click search ads on Google or email marketing campaigns. In this blog, following suit with our social media series (part one and part two), we will discuss how to promote your business using these platforms and the success that comes along with it.

Becoming Familiar with Your Unconscious

Each of the major social media platforms incorporates advertisements. We are all used to ads appearing on our screens while scrolling social media. To be honest, most of us scroll right past them, wouldn’t you agree? But there must be a reason they are used, isn’t there? Believe it or not, advertisements are widely used in social media simply because they are successful. Whether we consciously pay attention or not, these advertisements do increase name recognition and brand awareness. Even if you scroll past the ads, your brain still registers salient points. The information may not sit at the forefront of your brain, but it will be there when you need that it.

Social Media Ads, meet Digital Footprint. Digital Footprint, meet Social Media Ads.

Whether we like it or not, social media does track our usage – what we search, what we like on these platforms, what we post, etc. Here at Momentum, we utilize advertisements across all our platforms. That means you, as the consumer, may be targeted if you have (for example) recently searched for a management consulting firm or women-owned businesses. After you complete your search, you exit out of all tabs and close your laptop. Days later, you log in to social media, and one of your “Friends You May Know” is no other than us, Momentum. This happens whether you search for consulting firms or bedspreads – social media platforms track your usage and cater the advertisements to that history.

This approach to catered advertisements is why organizations want as many categories linked back to their businesses as possible. With a healthy footprint, you may have searched for a Business Analysis position near Camp Hill, PA. Later, you find yourself scrolling on Facebook and see an ad for Momentum since we are frequently bidding on opportunities that require various positions, such as business analyst, to be filled by our Recruiting Team. If you click on the link, you will quickly realize we are looking to hire a Business Analyst – we just use our own ads rather than a third party.

But Did it Work for my Business?

I am sure that as business begins to flow in, an optimistic mindset would associate the growth with your social media ads. Or, perhaps you pessimistically think it’s not as effective as you’d anticipated. Either way, you can take the guesswork out of your assumptions. There are several measurable ways to determine if social media ads are working for your business. Some metrics include the following:

  1. Reach – Reach refers to the number of individuals your content and ads are reaching. You should continuously monitor your views and followers. Believe it or not, if a lot of non-followers are viewing your ad, you are doing something right. Clicks and shares, even by users who do not follow you, indicate that your content is being viewed. The higher your reach, the more exposure your advertisements and content are getting.
  2. Audience Growth Rate – Even though non-followers represent clicks and shares, you do want to gain followers as you post ads more often. Every platform allows you to easily track this through your business dashboard.
  3. Customer Satisfaction (CSAT) Score – You can find out how happy clients and consumers are by asking them how they feel about your business and the products or services you offer. There are a variety of options for surveys, including bots and automation. Customer responses will be compiled and give you your CSAT score.
