Momentum was founded in 1998 by Lori Daniels, Karen Sarabok, and Steve Clay, who shared a belief that a smaller consulting firm could deliver exceptional work while building stronger, more connected relationships with clients along the way.

After working together at a larger software development firm, the founders saw an opportunity to create something different. They wanted to build a company grounded in quality work, practical expertise, and a culture where people genuinely cared about the organizations they supported. That vision became the foundation of Momentum.

Growing Through Trust and Partnership

What started as a team of three steadily grew through long-term relationships, consistent delivery, and a reputation for staying closely connected to the work. Over the years, Momentum expanded its services, supported organizations throughout the Mid-Atlantic region, and built partnerships across both the public and private sectors.

As technology evolved and organizations faced increasingly complex challenges, Momentum continued growing alongside them. The company supported operational improvement efforts, technology modernization initiatives, organizational change, and large-scale implementations that directly impacted the people and communities connected to the work.

A New Chapter of Leadership

In 2020, the company’s founders formally transferred ownership to Jennifer Oswald, Ashley Hock, and Tom Flowers. Each brought longstanding experience and deep connections to Momentum, helping continue the culture and values that shaped the organization from the beginning.

Jennifer played an important role in shaping Momentum’s people-first culture and the strong relationships that continue to define the organization today. Following her passing in 2025, her impact remains deeply felt throughout the company by the people she supported, the relationships she built, and the culture she helped strengthen over the years.

Together, the leadership team helped guide Momentum through continued growth, expanded capabilities, and long-term investment across the company while maintaining the close relationships and hands-on approach that have always defined the organization.

Momentum Today

Today, Momentum has grown from three employees to more than 75 consultants and team members. The company has delivered hundreds of projects across a wide range of industries while continuing to maintain the relationship-driven approach that has shaped Momentum for more than 25 years.

Many leaders throughout the organization began in entirely different roles and grew alongside the company over time. That culture of opportunity, support, understanding, and professional growth continues to shape Momentum today.

Looking Ahead

Throughout its history, Momentum has remained grounded in the same core belief: people matter.

That belief shapes how teams work together, how clients are supported, and how the organization continues to grow. It also guides Momentum’s commitment to community involvement and supporting the regions where employees live and work.

As Momentum continues looking ahead, the focus remains steady. Support organizations through meaningful work. Stay connected to the people behind it. Continue building relationships that last.
